Let the state decide!

Oil rigsRepublicans in the state house introduced a resolution that would allow North Carolinians to decide whether drilling should be allowed off the North Carolina coast.

Whether you’re for drilling or against it, it only makes sense that the people of the state should decide. WWAY-TV’s article notes that the move has little chance of passing, since it’s largely opposed by Democrats who dominate the general assembly.

But the online poll-takers at the Outer Banks Sentinel, in our reliably Democratic area, say 62%-38% (PDF) that the State should decide. What’s up with that?
